Increased interest in the band and the associated pressure take their toll on Berger who turns to drink and drugs. His erratic behaviour leads Van Baelen into pushing the band into recording the tenth album 'Atem Wieder'. Berger responds well but ultimately burns out leading to a disastrous show in which a number of industry contacts were present. Berger is forced to leave the band and Van Baelen assumes complete creative control of the album's post-production leading to renewed tensions with Kruger. The tape is released in September 1979 and trades successfully.
