Big Chill 2008, competition & freebies

June 24th, 2008

Lustfaust have been invited by the ICA to perform at this year’s Big Chill Festival.

To celebrate (and because our plans for a big scale music video complete with an animatronic animal band have totally fallen through) we’re running a video competition where you can snag yourself a free Big Chill ticket and the opportunity to join us on stage.

Enter via youtube / myspace / facebook

Even if you don’t fancy the competition you can still download our new track ‘sous-vide’ for free.

SCHNEIDER TM UND LUSTFAUST

August 17th, 2007

2 pieces of exciting news. Firstly Schneider TM und Lustfaust will be performing live together in Berlin next month and the 7″ single will be released in September.

There will be an exhibition of the Lustfaust archive at Haunch of Venison’s new gallery space in Berlin. The show will open with a once in a lifetime performance – Schneider TM will play with Peter Kruger and cohorts on September 13th at 9pm featuring a confirmed dj set by doc schocko (http://www.myspace.com/docschoko / http://www.docschoko.de/) and live visuals by lillevan (http://www.lillevan.com/) of rechenzentrum (http://www.myspace.com/rechenzentrum / http://www.rechenzentrum.org/). More details and a live broadcast on the night at http://www.lustfaust-live.de/

And the promised 7″ collaboration between Scnheider TM and Lustfaust’s Peter Kruger on vocals will be available from http://www.mirrorworldmusic.com/

The tracks are described as:

The 7“ starts off with The girl who cried all the tears from her body which could more or less be termed power ambient.
if that didn`t sound so crap.
A fuzzed out micro molecular (there is sooo much going on there) organic drone rides ontop of a bass heavy pulse (not beat). All in all a very beautiful and oceanic scene for Kruger`s stream of conciousness, completely weirded out but super melodic vocal style.

Sweet Divorcee is somewhat more conventional. This time around Kruger sings a killer melody (something about coq au vin and sex) over a slighty glitchy almost rock`n`roll stomp.
Backwards guitars, backwards Balafon, forwards Rhodes and a defiantly forwards beat are the backdrop for Kruger`s amazingly intricate and show stealing vocals which seem to be interwoven with something which isn`t actually audible.
Quite uptempo and definately psychedelic.

Kruger 7 inch !!!!

May 24th, 2007

We were contacted a couple of months ago by Schneider TM about a 7″ double A-side they’re releasing on MirrorWorldMusic.

Basically they’ve done the impossible and collaborated with none other than our elusive Peter Kruger!!!

They met him a while ago in Omaha and sporadically kept in touch. They performed at the ICA whilst the Lustfaust archive was being shown to discover that there was more to their friend than they first realised.

We put them in touch with Mick Larkin who designed the new cover and the single is to be released later in the year.

We’ve had a listen (the tracks are on myspace right now) and can testify that Kruger is back in the full weirded out glory of his original tracks (which we unfortunately still can’t make available) and the songs are sublime.

We can’t say too much yet but we’re also hoping for some kind of reunion show but it’s early days so keep your fingers crossed. Updates to follow soon (we hope!)

Who says Lustfaust aren’t good to their friends? part 1

August 16th, 2006

Lustfaust have been on myspace for a while now (Mike runs it but both Guido Van Baelen and Judy Berger are involved) so we’d like to extend our thanks for the encouragement and support.

It would be impractical to name check everybody so here’s a run down of some of the cool bands who have helped us recently.
Lord Beard

LORD BEARD is a culmination of intense insomnia and boredom,- coupled with cartoons, shitty action and zombie movies, junk food, video games, slayer, aphex twin, wishin trent reznor would some play me in time splitters two, he can bring method and or red, those crazy ninjas,- and the fact that whenever i would walk into the digital ferret, there would be the most herendous crap playing over the in house speakers, and i kept saying to myself, i could do this. no. i could do this one better. so i tried. it didnt work. but i had fun. From time to time LORDBEARD collaborates on projects, such as HATCH (former Ominous Owl), The Noise Brothers Collective, and The Retarded Panda, Even Singing For The Koshi Rikdo Assassination Plot, due to the sudden absence of their fulltime vocalist. …. recent developements : barbe de seignur & shukun agohige Lord Beard is also The Founder of AcidRadio records and Cofounder of its affiliate GeoffDam. Boss Tweeter

Building on fifty years of Rock n’Roll, Boss Tweeter has created a sound that draws upon many sonic elements that have been familiar to listeners for decades. From the reverb-drenched tones of surf guitar, to Brit-Pop harmonies, to the more aggressive rock sounds of the 90′s, Boss Tweeter has built a cohesive and catchy sound since their formation in 2003. With two EP’s under their belt, radio play on Seattle’s 107.7 the End and a consistent touring schedule, the band continues to make their mark on the Seattle indie scene.

His Son Elroy

Elroy embarked on the 1ST, of what soon became 4, extended play compact discs. At times Elroy have been criticised as both inaccessible and massively retro (100-150 years or so; almost Goliardic by some accounts). But despite regular citations from the dust-covered, bottle green vaults of the Victorian traditionalists and a tendency to weave numerical conundrums into poetical abstractions; this has never been their intention. Elroy’s treatment of ‘time’ throughout 4×4 owes more to the recent proximity of the Borbonaise intelligentsia than to any need to look (and feel) ‘antique’.

Sputtering Kettle

Sputtering Kettle is a West Philadelphia improvising trio that combine hip hop, jazz and traditional Indian Ragas with noise, IDM, freejazz and freakout. Expect radios to be placed in the audience and bandmembers to join the audience in singing, chanting, stomping or calisthenics. Ladies and gentlemen and walruses, this is experimental improvised electro-acoustic ethnic sounds with field recordings, tabla, synths, didgeridoos, circuit-bent oddities, chattering radios, flutes, guitar, drums, 23 pedals, junk percussion and hand-operated theremin-like effects processors. And while sounds cook onstage, the kettles join the audience in performing this barrage with them. You’ll have to hear it to believe it. When our powers combine, we are Sputtering Kettle!

Nancy Elizabeth Cunliffe

Nancy is a 22 year-old singer and songwriter from Lancashire who has been writing and performing her music for several years now, often stunning audiences into silence with her unique voice and original songs. Think classic British folk hinting at the vocal style of Sandy Denny, Jacqui McShee or Vashti Bunyan – her range encompasses swooping melodies to pure piercing highs.

composite.human

composite.human first began in 1995 under the name ‘Obscurity’ — the first recordings were very crude, using a microphone, guitar, digital delay/pitch-shift pedal, and dual-cassette deck…during this time, an early recording was featured in the last issue of ‘Friends of the Draft Resistance’, an underground noise ‘zine…but due to lack of funds and decent recording equipment, the project was put on hold…enter 2003, where with the aid of Cubase SX, Acid Pro 4, and other software, the project was re-born with a new name and newer, more focused sound. now, in 2006, composite.human is still going strong… more tunes can be found here : http://www.demostreams.com/?ID=compositehuman

Obszon Geschopf

The musical project O.G, have been created by Remzi Kelleci in 1996/97 in Boulogne sur mer ( FRANCE ). Remzi Kelleci records a first demo cd in 2000 which was called “day of suffering”, finally this demo won’t be released (it will be essentially meant to the labels). After the lot of encouragement but no real proposition, he works on new tracks, leaving out the guitars to concentrate on the electronic. He takes part of a springboard organized by the D-side magazine and he is selected among 300 participants. Then all speed up with some propositions about contract. It’s finally “La chambre Froide” with released his first album “yell of fright” in 2003,for an international distribution, then in 2004 his 2nd album “Son of Evil” is released by the american label “BLC Productions”.This album had a good success and OG begin to be well-known in the Electro-Dark circle. He took part in many compilation and make many remix for other bands like Alien Produckt, Synaptic defect, Hiv+, Grendel… Autumn 2005, OG is back with his 3rd album “tomb of the dead”, it’s more violent and dancefloor album. OG took the decision to manage his band himself under the name of Mortuary records. OG is distribute by sx-distribution and season of mist . my e-mail is obszon.geschopf@caramail.com. We’re off to New York!

June 8th, 2006

Having crept up on us faster than we realised we’re off to New York tomorrow.

The show runs from June 15th to July 22nd and the reception for any hipsters in the vicinity is on Thursday 15th.

This is all pretty exciting stuff, Jamie Shovlin is curating the show and he has already proven his ability to draw out the subtleties of the narrative contained within our archive so check out http://www.volumegallery.com.

Also, you won’t believe it but rumour has it that Peter Kruger is gearing up to make an appearance on an as yet unnamed musical project. Given our own dealings with the man this seems somewhat unlikely but we heard it from a source we trust so we’ll have to wait and see. Will update if we hear anything further.

I’m gonna try and blog some of our time in New York so keep reading.

New Blog!

June 6th, 2006

The backend I wrote for news was, to be frank, a bit crumy. So I’ve installed a wordpress blog (http://www.lustfaust.com/blog/) and hooked into feedburner to get the news into the homepage.

I think I’ve ironed out all the bugs so we’ll find it easier to keep the news up-to-date.

E-mail us if you find any glitches

Lustfaust Posters

March 3rd, 2006

A small exhibition of Lustfaust posters will open at Riflemaker on Beak Street in London on 21 March. The exhibition will be a crystallised ‘live’ history of the band, focused on the 30 or so gig posters we have recovered. The show will also feature the newly acquired Hans-Georg Petersen photo archive, so that, in it’s self, should be worth a look. Join us for drinks and revelry on Monday 20 March (6.30-9pm).

More info (and an address): http://www.riflemaker.org

Lustfaust at the ICA

February 20th, 2006

We will be showing a selection of Lustfaust-related material at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London as part of Beck’s Futures 2006. We’re hoping this exhibition and the show scheduled for New York will be the most definitive record of Lustfaust to date. The show opens on the 31 March and runs until 15 May 2006. Hope to see you there.

Falke Tränen New Issues!

February 13th, 2006

We’ve finally found someone who has the missing issues! Your applause for Rich Ashworth, younger sibling of our old friend Kev, who has gathered (and sent us) issues 3 & 6. We now have a complete selection of all the issues, see them here. Hopefully we’ll be able to post the insides of each ‘zine in the near future.
